Two-Speed Operation

The KCW45 combines two complementary speeds:

• 1st Gear: The fastest speed, indicated by the arrow on the headstock. Ideal for quickly handling line and sail maneuvers.
• 2nd Gear: The more powerful speed, designed to make demanding loads easier to handle.

This combination is particularly useful when sending a large sail or during tacking, allowing sailors to switch between speed and power as needed.

Working Load & Compatibility

The KCW45 has a working load of 850 kg, equivalent to a traditional size 40 winch.

Because of this working load, Karver states that the KCW45 can be installed on boats originally designed for size 20, 30, or 40 winches, provided the application is suitable for the winch's working load.

The KCW45 can also be used on larger sailboats for applications where the load remains within its working limits. Examples include:

• Davit winches
• Sail hoisting applications where the sail is subsequently hooked
• Applications where the load is limited to the weight of the sail

Handle Compatibility

KCW winches designed for 8 to 11 mm ropes are supplied without a handle. They can be used with compatible winch handles, including Karver carbon cranks.
