PT-80 Battery Charger
Newmar’s Phase Three Series Battery Chargers employ “Smart” battery charging technology for 12-volt systems aboard marine applications including workboats, military vessels, commercial vessels, and recreational craft. Power-Pac 14AH Power Supply
The 12V DC power supply features built-in backup batteries, which are charged during normal operation and then continue to power radios and critical navigation equipment when AC power is lost. The Power-Pac is ideal for commercial vessels, work boats, and yachts.
The Power-Pac’s highly regulated, low-rising 10-amp output powers radios and other sensitive communications equipment without causing RF or audio interference. At the same time, it floats and charges one or two (depending on the model) built-in 7-amp/hour backup batteries. These are kept at peak charge during the normal functioning of the unit when AC is being supplied. In the event of a loss of AC power, the internal batteries automatically take over to power communication equipment, providing a true uninterruptible DC source.

Provision is made for expanding backup power up to twelve hours (in this example, longer under lesser loads) with the installation of additional externally wired batteries (total 28 amps/hours max.). Batteries are automatically recharged when the AC is restored.
The operator is kept informed of all important functions, such as AC input, DC output, and battery status, with front panel indicator lights and a low battery warning buzzer.

Three-Stage Charging
Multistage charging ensures batteries receive optimum charging, but with minimal wear and tear, regulating the voltage and current delivered to the batteries in three automatic stages:
- Bulk: Replaces 70–80% of the battery’s state-of-charge at the fastest possible rate
- Absorption: Replenishes the remaining 20–30% of charge, bringing the battery to a full charge at a slow, safe rate
- Float: Voltage is reduced and held constant to prevent damage and maintain batteries at a full charge for the remaining 20–30% of charge, bringing the battery to a full charge at a slow, safe rate
Power Factor Corrected (PFC) Charging
Less shore power is required for charging batteries, freeing up more usable AC power for running electrical devices and appliances and reducing the likelihood of tripping shore power breakers.
